Services are offered  both in English and in Hungarian. I have a general practice, and enjoy working with adults, adolescents.

I have a Masters Degree in Psychology, graduated from the Eötvös Lorand University of Science, in Budapest. My major was Clinical and Health Psychology.

I am trained at Group Analysis, Autogenic Training,  Meditative Training, Focus Therapy of Gendlin, Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy. I have attended conferences, seminars and trainings of System Centered Therapy of Yvonne Agazarian in Philadelphia, in Atlanta (USA) and in London.

Previously I have lived two years in the USA and in Italy. Having lived and studied in other cultures has helped me work with a variety of cross-cultural and spiritual diversity issues.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

My psychological services

As to which service is best for you depends on the nature of your problem (how long it has been there, is there a focus to it). To different forms and types of psychotherapy different time-span, technique and settings apply.

The first setting is a 45 minutes interview, which is for getting to know each other, the core of your problem. This is also aiming at deciding whether I am the therapist you need, whether I can offer you adequate help (councelling or psychotherapy or helping you to get to the appropriate professional).

  • Psychological Assesment, Evaluation

It is done with the help of standardized psychological tests, questionaires, projective methods and on the basis of the first interview. We discuss the results and make a  decision together on our future cooperation (whether you need other type of help as well counceling or psychotherapy).

  • Counceling

There are situations in life, there are family and job related conflicts when one might feel it is too hard to make up his mind. Friends cannot always help in the best way, it might be a good idea to turn to a professional helper.Counceling  is of 1-5 sessions aiming at getting out of the blockage, to find own soulions. The goal of counseling is always to improve the quality of life and to improve the capacity to live well with others.

  • Psychotherapy in general

A psychotherapist interacts with patients to initiate change in the patient's thoughts, feelings, and behavior through adaptation. Psychotherapists provide treatment in individual and group settings. After gathering information and doing a problem assessment, a psychotherapist will define a course of treatment that meets the specific needs of an individual, couple or family, The course of treatment  will usually consist of subsequent psychotherapy sessions; working toward a defined goal in mind. In a psychotherapy session, the psychotherapist will encourage verbal dialogue betweent the client and him/herself.The therapist provides a safe and supportive environment for creative problem solving and self exploration on a wide range of issues.
Among the issues addressed in psychotherapy are:
– Relationship issues, loss, separation, divorce, marital counseling.
– Women's issues
– Trauma
– A wide range of mood disorders, such as depression, loss and self esteem issues.
– Anxiety disorders, including anxiety and worries stemming from everyday worries and generalized anxiety disorders.
Psychotherapy is a healing method of psychological problems, illnesses based on psychological work. It demands an active cooperation, attitude of the patient him/herself as well.  It is effective if the patient is wanting and willing to get free of the symptoms, has a real desire for making changes, for developing. Patient and therapist decide together on the goals and on the treatment form of the therapy. For the patient it is important to know that therapy is a serious investment regarding emotions, time and finances. As a result of intensive and enough longlasting  efforts the patient will become more mature, more balanced, will experience more joy and satisfaction in his/her everyday life, will treat his/her problems adequately, his/her relationships will bring more happiness this way his/her symptoms will lessen or disappear.

I use the following techniques to treat various psychological conditions and situations:
-  Relaxation training (Autogenic Training etc.)
-  Short-term DynamicTherapy
-  Psychodynamic therapy
-  Group therapy

Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy

Our work is organized around an actual inner conflict, which has a special emphasis in the curriculum as well. The reframing, understanding of the conflict will help further development of the personality. Therapy is lasting for 3-6 months, runs with an exact number of sessions, has an exact date of finishing.

Dynamic therapy

It is a method suggested for problems that are less precise or when it is harder to catch the core of the problem, it is more diverse. There are one or two sessions per week, with no exact ending and no set number of sessions. It is based on the psychoanalitic theory.

Forms of psychotherapy:

Individual therapy

Therapy is running in a two-person setting, it is fueled by harmony, trust and commitment from both sides: patient and therapist. Length of time of the therapy, timely arrangement of the sessions, technique (verbal, non-verbal, imaginative, cognitive, psychoanalitic etc.) and other features depend on the nature of the patient s problem, on the method used.

Group therapy

Analitical small group: 5-9 persons and a group leader work together. Sessions are 2x45 minutes, weekly or twice a week, runs longer (1-2 years). This length is necessary for real, lasting changes. Analitic small groups can be helpful in a variety of problems, but it is best for dealing with severe (long lasting) relationship matters, problems (problems with contact making, regularly emerging partnership problems, marital conflicts etc.). Verbal technique is used: you need to speak to the group or group members during the session. It enables learning more about our own reactions to others, to see what reactions we trigger in others, we can try out new manners, new behaviours, our personality can get richer this way.
There are self-knowledge groups, without therapeutic goals but with the aim of personality development.

Choosing a therapist

"Every human being is a unique individual person. Psychotherapeutic success depends ultimately not on theory, and not on a stereotyped technique, but on the individual therapist's ability to understand intuitively and accurately this particular patient, and to sense what is truly this patient's problem.  Theory is a great help but it does not confer intuitive gifts of understanding or a therapeutic personality.  It provides a more or less useful guide for them… Psychotherapy is a living personal relationship." Harry Guntrip

While formal credentials and an educational history may help in an initial screening for a therapist, they are probably not very useful in choosing one that is right for you. Immediate issues undoubtedly bring you to consider therapy at this time: a fight with your spouse or a breakup with a lover, the death of someone who is close to you, problems dealing with a boss or a co-worker, eating or spending that has gotten out of hand, a feeling of constant anxiety, being endlessly down in the dumps, a child who is in trouble, a son or daughter who is having trouble leaving home, an aging parent, an approaching wedding, an impending divorce. Sometimes these difficulties reactivate concerns and conflicts that stem from childhood trauma. Sometimes it is simply that life's pressures are overwhelming. When you are in turmoil, you look for relief. And surprisingly, it is often at that time that positive changes are nearest at hand. Transformation does not begin amidst certainty and stability but when things feel most chaotic. So it is difficult to know who is going to be most helpful to you.
If you have any specific needs or requests, it is best to put them on the table immediately.  Perhaps you are looking for someone who works well with couples or has experience with addiction or is skilled in dealing with sexual abuse.  Perhaps you want someone who has a particular religious orientation, maybe someone who has experience with issues of grieving.  If any of these are essential, it is best to narrow the field quickly.  But probably the best way to decide which therapist is going to be the right one for you is to work together.
Recommendations from friends or family might be useful, but think twice about going to a therapist who is seeing someone close to you.  Therapy is an intimate relationship and sharing a therapist may prove to be awkward, embarassing, or even inhibiting.
Don't hesitate to be straightforward and frank with a therapist about your search.  It is a normal part of the process to "shop around" before you settle on someone, and it is your welfare that is most important.
